Every year since 1995, my husband, Marc, and I have helped the Fairfield County Salvation Army provide a joyful Christmas for local children in need. In the first year, we helped about 10 kids. That number grew to as many as 600 in the early 2000's! Luckily, the Fairfield County Salvation Army now has commanding officers who are ready, willing, and able to get more people and organizations involved, allowing us to handle a more manageable number of children. This year, we expect to help 150 children out of the 700 in the program.
The deadline to drop off your gifts for the kids is Saturday, December 16th by 6 pm. After 4 pm on December 15th, all gifts much be delivered to 9169 Cotswold Dr. Please call or text us to let us know when you’ll be arriving.
We can't do this without people who have a desire to help their community and have a BIG heart. if you're reading this, you're probably that type of person!
Click the link "2023 SA Christmas Angels Working List For Website" at the bottom of this page to access the spreadsheet and pick a child's description that resonates with you. You'll see their first names, age, and gender. Maybe you have an age or gender in mind. Or maybe you want to adopt a sibling for Christmas. Either way, email us at: [email protected]
Green= the child is available for adoption
Yellow= the child has been adopted and we are awaiting the gifts to be delivered to one of our drop-off points (addresses below)
Red= the child was adopted and the gifts have been dropped off
Once you select a child or children to adopt for Christmas, I will send you their entire wish list. This will give you an idea of what toys they are interested in, what size they wear, if they need a coat or a bed, or if they have any special interests.
Please keep in mind that you are expected to buy everything on this list. This is a "Wish" list. However, we've learned over the years that most people want more information about their adopted child. Also, many people will round up friends and family to help provide gifts for their adopted child. Spend what is best for your situation.
Do not wrap the gifts. Label each gift with the angel code. Place all gifts in a large bag or two (trash bags are fine!) and label the outside of the bag with your angel code. This will ensure ease of sorting for The Salvation Army. Don't worry! They will make sure your adopted child receives the gifts you purchased.

You will be buying specific gifts for a specific child and only your adopted child will receive the gifts you provide. The Salvation Army takes much care in ensuring that your gifts go to the child you select. If need be, they may supplement that child's gifts but they will not take away any gifts you provide for your adopted child. They always try to make sure siblings get the same amount of presents. If you're a parent, you know how important this is on Christmas morning.
is no later than December 16, 2023 by 6PM. The Salvation Army is picking up all gifts on 12/17 at 9AM. They need time to organze all the presents for the families before they are distributed on 12/21. If your gifts do not get to us by 12/16, they will not be included in the distribution.
These kids are like any other kid and they deserve new toys and clothing for Christmas. Yes, we know that there are some pretty big wish items on the list because this is after all, their wish lists. You are not expected to purchase everything on the lists and the kids understand they may not get everything they've wished for.
